Received this infrared thermometer this week and have used it to determine when my salt block is hot enough. Despite my general incompetence with mechanics, I was able to figure out how to open the thermometer's handle to remove the 9 volt battery in the plastic case, remove the packaging, and insert the battery. I compared the Etekcity Lasergrip 800 to a calibrated thermometer before use. I was VERY impressed with the accuracy of 0.1-0.2 degrees Fahrenheit at room temperature.
