Description of 🌡️ Etekcity Non-Contact Digital Temperature Gun 800 - 16:1 DTS Ratio, -58℉ to 1382℉ (-50℃ to 750℃), Infrared Thermometer for Non-Human Use, Yellow and Black

NOT FOR HUMAN: Temperature readings from these devices are inanimate objects. for humans or animals will not be correct. For the best accuracy the distance between thermometer and object of measurement should approximately be 14.17 inches. BETTER ACCURACY: The distance to spot ratio is 16:1 meaning the laser grip 800 can accurately measure targets at smaller measurement area with the same distance compared with other thermometers with DSR 12:1 or 8:1. TARGET QUICKER: Measure surface temperature ranging from -58°F to 1382°F/ -50°C to 750°C you can choose the unit from °F/°C A built-in laser gives you the precision to hone in on the exact space you want to measure. ADDED FUNCTIONS: The LCD screen is backlit it also has an auto-off function to extend the battery life and features a low battery indicator so you never accidentally run out of juice (battery included). VERSATILE DESIGN: Infrared technology makes this thermometer handy to measure surface temperature of various objects. Use it when you are cooking and barbecuing performing auto maintenance doing home repairs and a host of other tasks.

Type of review

There will be a game when someone gets an IR temperature sensor for the first time. I spent about an hour pointing things out to her and letting my wife know what the reading was. She gave me that irritated "my husband is a nerd" look that I already know and love.

Great infrared thermometer tool

I bought this to check the temperature of my forge but found so many other uses for it. If you want to check the temperature of the air coming out of your air conditioner or vents, simply aim the laser and get instant readings. It says it doesn't work well with liquid, but it gives me readings within a degree of my pool temperature, which is close enough. The laser is also great as a cat or dog toy and you know what the temperature of the floor, sofa or wall is when fur chases the laser. I…

Great as a tool and toy. Useful and fun

We use it all the time as both a tool and a toy. Frying pan: 320. Heater opening: 73 (to allow cold air to come out). I've used it to heat food and deep fry. They took it to an unheated warehouse during a cold snap and "shot" the water pipes. 34; too close for comfort. We have a space heater. Little did I know that I would use it as much as I do now and enjoy it. It's accurate over the full range I can test. (Ice water 32, boiling water 211 - about my size). The shot in the oven matches my…

Easy to use essential for making salt blocks

Received this infrared thermometer this week and have used it to determine when my salt block is hot enough. Despite my general incompetence with mechanics, I was able to figure out how to open the thermometer's handle to remove the 9 volt battery in the plastic case, remove the packaging, and insert the battery. Once this was done, the thermometer worked like clockwork. Luckily I wasn't stupid enough to look into the laser beam or point it at the guests. Since I've only recently bought it, I…

It stopped working on first use

I bought this to test the temperature of a pizza stone and it stopped working during my very first grilling session. Turned on, used a few times, never turned back on. Then after 5 minutes it turned on intermittently but went back to Celsius so every time I used it when it was working I had to hold and press the button again to go back to Fahrenheit. The next day I tried again - it doesn't turn on. Oh, and then the next day when I opened the battery compartment to see what was going on, the…

Inaccurate temperature measurement

I originally bought this device to check the temperature in a reptile enclosure. I was incredibly pleased when I got it - the gun is light and very easy to use and I thought it would make everything that much easier. All readings were incredibly high or incredibly low with no readings in between and I was struggling to figure out how to maintain optimal temperature before my snake got here. Oddly enough, I found that the readings from the digital thermostat and digital thermometer in the tank…

Very accurate, but be careful!

I compared the Etekcity Lasergrip 800 to a calibrated thermometer before use. I was VERY impressed with the accuracy of 0.1-0.2 degrees Fahrenheit at room temperature. I bought a device to document poorly insulated areas in a new build. All of my temperature readings were between 64 and 70 degrees Fahrenheit (18-21 C). OBSERVATIONS also required the building's outside temperature, which I knew to be about 26.5 degrees Fahrenheit (-3 C), BUT TAKEN ON THE EXTERIOR WALL OF THE BUILDING, THE…
