I bought these to replace worn out crappy graters that I keep cutting and/or falling apart. I was and still am tired of cheap kitchen tools that break with little use and pay more for quality. I cut A LOT of cheese and veggies so I need something good. Too many others I found in the store looked like flimsy ones I'd thrown around, and plastic all over the grater could bite my ass. I don't even use the dishwasher and the plastic is falling apart so this item looked spot on. Just a touch on rivets gave me almost at first glance. This grater is strong on all sides. The side seams fold over before closing and close tightly (Fig. 1). They don't bite or cut at all. The handle is strong and will stand up to frequent use, there is no loosening or play in the hinge, and I'm sure the grater won't fall apart anytime soon during use. The handle is comfortable to hold, even over long periods of time. Rubbing Sessions. One problem I had was water getting in on the inside of the handle where the pieces have a slight gap (Figure 3) and the grater needs to be angled when drying. The gap is small enough and is where it won't irritate the skin, but it's a minor irritation. My other issue and the other half of why I'm only giving 4 stars is that the packaging was ultra minimal (thin bubble wrap around the envelope) and it came with a dent in the corner (pic 4) and a cutting hole that will become a bit in transit as well deformed (Fig. 5). If the dent was enough to make a hard crease in the metal I would return it but it's fine as is and I had to use it as soon as it showed up. Overall this is a really good grater and I'm happy with it. As for those who say it's hard to clean - every grater I've ever had is hard to clean. Soak in hot water for 10 minutes. And then a long-handled dishwashing brush.
