Be careful with hot pots. Keeps you warm underneath.

I bought this primarily as a splash guard. Anyway, a great invention would be a way to close it like a lid over a pot to seal it up a bit and pop it in the fridge when needed. I doubt the durability of the top used to raise and lower the screen. . The screen can be burned (see photo 1). As for using it as a strainer, I don't think it's concave enough to do for pasta (as shown), but it might work for straining something that's already mostly liquid, and the end result if you do that Strain over a cup, glass, or pitcher, and then you will drink from it. They're easy to store, which is a good concept. I burned my hand from not considering how hot the bottom part could get over time and ran the edge of the screen across the top of my hand.
