This is a portable camera (more than a scanner) with a black plastic mat that can be used as a base for scanning documents and books. The camera itself is protected by an office lamp where, in the down position, it transforms into a closed metal stick, easy to transport. The lens has protection against full closure. This works with a USB-A cable and is capable of shunting 1.0A, allowing direct connection to a computer (or a laptop in the library) when used. The mat ensures even processing and gives clear targets for straight-page photography. Image processing from jpeg can be displayed in either pdf or docx. I only used the Latin alphabet, but apparently it can be used with others as well. The greatest strength of this device is that it is extremely durable and portable, unlike some of the larger stationary scanners. The downside is that it doesn't have adjustable dimensions and doesn't read texture, which some of the larger scanners can also store. There is a small issue with the camera correctly interpreting the glyphs on a dark page background (black background and ink color other than white), but other than that, all the documents I've used at work have scanned and rendered correctly. which some of the larger scanners can also store.
