Great burner for the price!

This Ziweo drive replaces the LG DVD burner I had for about a year. I burn quite a lot of DVDs and LG kept around 500 discs. I replaced it entirely with this drive due to the low price, but was pleasantly surprised to see that it worked even better for me than the tried and tested old LG. One of the big pluses for me is that this drive is a bit bigger. than my LG drive which gives the drive more room in the drive bay. It is important. I've had a few issues with not being able to duplicate discs due to very thick labels. These types of labels left very little space in the LG drive and sometimes the disc would jump out of the top of the drive and the writing or reading process would be interrupted. This new drive is just a few millimeters thicker than LG's, but that tiny extra space means no more bad discs due to label issues! much less heat and vibration. Sometimes when I was burning discs on the go and had to mount the burner on an available surface, the LG would rattle so hard it would slide off. Not so with this Ziweo drive! It's compact and lightweight, yet strong enough to be strong and support its own weight while the discs spin. It also has decent anti-slip rubber on the bottom to keep it in place. The only "downside" I see is that the max read speed is 24x while some drives go up to 56x. However, I'm not counting on Ziweo. When duplicating discs, I had many problems where the disc image didn't work when copying at high speed, and reducing the read speed to 24x solved this problem. Since I automatically set the maximum read speed to 24x when cloning drives, this lower read speed does not affect me. It also doesn't affect CD or DVD playback, so don't let that hold you back. This is another note. Although the Ziweo drive burns DVDs at 8x like most other drives, I ALWAYS set the maximum write speed to 4x. This is because every drive I've used, even expensive HP, Hitachi, LG, and Dell drives, has produced a significant number of failed drives when writing at 8x, but this rarely happens at 4x. Since I only shoot at 4x, I can't say how Ziweo performs at 8x. However, it now burns ten double-layer DVD+Rs at 4x with no problems. I definitely recommend this Ziweo DVD burner! You won't beat these features and build quality at this price point from someone burning 10-15 DVDs a week.
