Review on Kumho Ecsta PS31 195/50 R15 82V summer by Stanislaw Szudek ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The purchase brought only positive emotions.

I took in the dimension 225/45 ZR17 94W XL on the Audi A3. Dunlop SPORT MAXX 225/45 R17 91W factory tires wore out after 66,000 km. It's time to change, but the budget in the conditions of high price tags tightened itself, I had to choose at an average price. After scouring reviews and seasonal price reduction + tavern as a gift, I chose this one. In terms of workmanship, made in Vietnam, they are worthy and look solid. Yes, this is not Dunlop, soft sides are alarming. But in terms of softness, the tires will even be more comfortable in some ways, the joints and irregularities have become less sensitive, and this is in +, they behave stably in a straight line, there is even a certain pleasantness from driving, in terms of noise they are also in +, only a comfortable rustle of tires from the road. It throws a little in a rut, but this is not critical, in such a profile many tires behave like that. In acceleration, they are not quick and lose a lot to Dunlop, while an audible rumble grows, which is still not annoying, but gives some kind of sporty effect. When rearranged along the strip, they are wadded, they do not have that sharpness inherent in the Dunlop family trait. Nevertheless, for a calm and measured ride, they are quite sufficient and this is not a sport, as the manufacturer claims, but quite comfortable tires. In general, I kind of liked it. I am perplexed only by the wavy longitudinal central rib, all tire manufacturers have a longitudinal rib of a straight shape and rectangular grooves along the groove, which serves for greater directional stability of the wheel. At the beginning, when buying, I didn’t pay attention to it, when I saw it I was even scared, I thought they probably pumped it over during installation and deformation occurred while driving, I came and looked at the images on the computer and calmed down, probably Korean engineers know better there. PS. I will add a comment later after seasonal use. It turned out that the tires were so soft and fragile that when changing, one showed a rather large cut from the stone, the rest were like new. Make a conclusion.

Pros
  • Good. Good directional stability, braking and handling are beyond praise for a tire at a price that is low and quite outperforms competitors, the best in its segment. Comfortable and not noisy. Disk protection. Premium.
Cons
  • Soft side. The rebuild is not so sharp, not a sport. Maneuverability is not the same as on UHP tires. During emergency braking, a whistle is observed, Dunlop has never behaved like this, don’t rely on a short brake like UHP.
