I was looking for a good way to store my rods in the off-season. Most of my gear is in rod cases. These "J" style hooks are big enough and also padded so I could safely stow a bunch of my gear on the rafters of the garage as shown in the photo I uploaded. Since I drove the mounting screws directly into the wooden joists, I didn't use the plastic anchors that were provided. This makes the attachment very strong. The screws look like a #10 or something, so I pre-drilled them before driving them in with a 5/32-inch bit. They are strong enough for my use. I also plan on installing skis and heavier parts from them - I don't expect any problems given the durability they showed on my first couples. I recommend.
