Review on Pyle 200W Audio Stereo Receiver by Robert Grimm

Bad parts/workmanship - died after 8 months

I used this amp to power my outdoor speakers using the aux input I get from my stereo aux out have. After 8 months of very infrequent use, the amp stopped making sound. I made sure there was nothing wrong with the alternate source and other speakers, so it seemed to me that something was wrong with the amp's output stage. As the warranty was 1 year I contacted Pyle support to understand the options. The email support was very responsive and advised me that I could send the unit in for warranty repairs by paying shipping each way ($20 each way) and if support decides the repair isn't necessary "Guarantee" is I would pay an additional $60. Generally $100 to repair a unit that originally cost $65 including shipping plus a 4-6 week wait for the repair to be completed. It's not really what I was looking for and it wasn't an option for me. I understand that this is not an expensive product, but a failure after 8 months with maybe 80 hours of use is unacceptable. It really is"heap". Buyers should therefore be careful and spend their money elsewhere. PS I didn't really need the Bluetooth option so I never tested it too often, but the volume with Bluetooth was much lower and the connectivity was negligible - the source had to be nearby or the signal was gone. There really isn't much added value. Sound quality wise it was pretty good for my purposes and better than the previous solution I had, but it has lasted over 10 years so no complaints. Thanks RadioShack! :-) It's just a pity that it's done so badly. I like the "Made in USA" perspective, but not if it leads to more e-waste.
