Review on ๐ŸŒฌ๏ธ Enhance and Protect your Raspberry Pi 4 with Akasa Gem Pro, a Superior Passive Cooling Case in Silver by Greg Wilkerson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great quiet fanless Pi4 case

TLDR: Good: This case is great for cooling Raspberry Pi 4. Can overclock and Gem Pro case keeps Pi4 at 47C. Bad: no feet. The ports are really recessed; Cables may need to be replaced. Note. I highly recommend using a quality thermal paste for the best results. Stress test: I installed Raspberry Pi OS and then Stressberry. I ran it at stock frequencies and then overclocked it to 2000MHz for the CPU and 600MHz for the GPU. (Voltage was also increased.) For initial testing, I used thermal pads and white thermal paste. (I think I applied too much paste the first time.) I then replaced the white paste with Noctua NT-H1 thermal paste. I ended up replacing the thermal pads with thermal paste. The temperature in the room was 23.3ยฐC (74ยฐF). All three tests lasted 10 minutes each and both the CPU and GPU were overclocked. Test 1: Max 53C (too much white thermal paste, poor heat dissipation) on one side CPU thermal pads are slightly damaged Much better but can get colder) Test 3: Max 47C (Thermal pads replaced with Noctua.) In this case me am confident that I can overclock without damaging the Pi4. Since it's quiet, I'll be replacing my fan housings with this one. The Evil1. Feet are not provided to prevent the case from scratching the surface.2. Cables may need modification to fully connect. Due to the thickness of the aluminum and the degree of countersinking of the connectors, it may be necessary to shorten the cables. While every other cable worked, the HDMI adapter cable didn't connect. By cutting off a piece of plastic from the connector, the cable could be connected. Stars are not removed as this could be an issue with the cables I purchased.
