Review on Petsfit Carrier Stainless Steel Cleaning by Christy Wood

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Barely fits our Amazone

His head can't go any higher and his tail can't go any lower. In fact, we only put paper in the bottom tray with no grid or tracing. We were a little dismayed when we first received this carrier because it said the perch was 1" in diameter when in fact it was 1/2". I noticed that they have since changed this information. But we liked the carrier so much that we decided it was worth adjusting the perch. Also, the wire attaching the plate was about 1/8 inch shorter. They graciously replaced it and also refunded us $10 due to wrong perch size. Dealing with the company was great. ) with our own equipment. Perfect now. The only other complaint is that the perch can rotate in the holder if they haven't fixed this issue. When we installed our own perch we also added cut to size grab mat pieces. It's decided. In case anyone wants to upgrade their own perch, the photo shows the equipment that was needed to do so. Suspension bolts are a little fiddly to insert, but here's what I found. If you end up using a round nut but screw in 3 standard nuts first (from a bolt kit I had on hand) you can use a socket head drill to drive the bolt through the acorn nut until the nut snaps through (they are weak), then the standard nuts will act as a stop and give you more length so you can continue screwing in until the end of the screw and the plain center is in the wood leaving only the machine end of the screw exposed. Make sure the washers are stainless steel to protect the birds! Other devices may contain zinc. First put washers on each end, assemble the perch, put another washer on the outside of each end (glue the rubber pad first), then finish with the wing nuts. You can see how it looks from the outside in the photos and they don't protrude enough to cause problems.
