I have a 1/2" thick aluminum bracket on my SXS and went with the much cheaper Laird brand first. The Laird has almost no ground support, just a very thin shim. The first time, my antenna caught on a tree and was pulled right out of its mount. I was hesitant to buy this antenna because the detail and pictures are terrible and the price is high, but I needed something so I took a chance. One is much stronger, fixes all the issues I've had with a cheap competitor. It mounts to a panel up to 17mm thick and has a strong corrugated metal wire that runs into the ground with a 1" thread. The top ring/antenna base is a lot thicker than any of my others and I think it has the same threading. So if you want to save a few millimeters, you'll also get your money's worth here.
