When this item arrived I didn't know how to assemble it other than I managed to screw the lever into the base. I emailed the service department using the address on the card. A day later Kevin Y replied yes you can bend your arm. He also sent a link to the video. I'm an older woman but I was able to bend my arm and set up a stand for my iPad. So far it works great. I am satisfied with this product.
