
When I first used this meat thermometer the reading seemed to slowly climb to the final temperature reading which was inaccurate (compared to the broken thermometer it replaced). So I ran a simple test to see how slow and inaccurate it really is. I placed the probe for this thermometer, as well as a thin thermocouple for a professional thermometer, in rapidly boiling water. The professional gauge quickly showed an accurate temperature of 212F. This meat thermometer slowly rose, eventually peaking at 206F after 45 seconds. The time it takes to display the final temperature is too long to be of practical use for cooking and I would not be sure of the display. I have already ordered another meat thermometer.
