Portable and sturdy enough when set up properly for road and mountain bikes. Easily fits a road bike with a 700mm x 28 tire or a mountain bike with a 29" wheel, both with the bottom tire roller in the largest position. Just adjust the top roller to change bikes. (I marked the position for each to set them up before assembling the bike.) I'm not sure if the frame is wide enough to accommodate a "fat" tire, but it might be. I didn't want to buy this due to some negative reviews, but it looks like a lot of this is down to sloppy/inexperienced assembly or misadjustment: 1) To avoid warping or deforming the stand, fully assemble it. leave the screws slightly loose. Lay it on the ground and level it straight, then tighten the screws until it's flat. 2) The lower roller bolts contain a fastener sealant. No need to over-tighten them...just slide them all the way in. Since they have thin heads, I suspect most people complaining about broken bolts overtightened them and removed the heads. stable in the stand, needs to be adjusted properly. The tire must be in contact with the 2 rollers AND the spike on the bottom of the stand and not touch the ground. Be sure to adjust the lower roller to the correct position (closer to the front on most adult bikes 26" or larger) and adjust the upper roller to support the tire if the tire is also in contact with the lower one role and the cleat.
