I wanted to try Dolby Atmos so I started looking for a Vizio set sold by Sam but the Atmos feature was 'virtual'. This set was about the same price, but it had upward-firing speakers on the soundbar, so I decided to try that one first. I was very, very disappointed with the LG set. Firstly, I didn't get the remote control. Okay, so I ordered one. While waiting for it to arrive, I took a look at the LG Soundbar app. I would not connect to an iPhone. It seems like a lot of people have had the same problem. The only Android device I had was an old Fire tablet, but I had to set it up to download apps from the Google Play Store (it was a slow process, but it worked). I finally got it connected, but the only way to get it working is to change the input on the soundbar to Bluetooth, adjust the levels in the app, then restart the TV, reconnect via HDMI ARC to connect and then check if my settings have changed. were what I wanted. I couldn't set up on the fly so I could check what I'm setting up. I definitely didn't like it, but the sound quality was even worse. I don't know if mine was just bad or what, but the sound was TERRIBLE. The dialogues were particularly terrible. It sounded very empty and tinny. And since I couldn't EQ anything, it didn't get any better. I've been using an old Vizio soundbar for years that didn't even have HDMI ARC - it was cheap - and sounded MUCH better. Combine terrible audio quality with connection issues and you're done. Didn't even wait for the remote to start the return process. I settled on the Vizio set, which I originally considered from Sam. I set it up a lot faster and it sounds a lot better. Maybe it's just more like what I'm used to, but I really don't think so. Dialogue sounds much more natural. And all this is much easier to manage. In any case, I'd rather have a remote control than an app. I figured since I have an LG TV the LG soundbar system would work great with it, but damn I was wrong. I absolutely do not recommend this product, whether new or refurbished.
