I have an old compact Bushnell binocular that belonged to my father, but I rarely use them because they are not that easy to focus and adjust. I also have a monocular that I use to watch the birds at my feeding stations. These binoculars fall somewhere in the middle of the spectrum between the two, with better focal length than a monocular and easier to focus than a Bushnell, despite being heavier than a monocular. both. They are good for bird watching and hiking in general, although for longer hikes it may be more than you want to take depending on what other gear you bring. However, for the price, the quality is more than acceptable and I found them easier to use than the Nikon binoculars I gave away. Four solid stars.
