One of the best brands

The price and quality of this camera sets it apart from more expensive brands. You get higher resolution at a lower price. Setting up this camera is easy: plug it in, launch the app to find the camera, add it to the app and view it. You can connect it to an NVR or just a regular switch to view live video. The mobile app is pretty much the same as other brands but seems a little better, easier to use and set up. Follow the instructions Amcrest provides with the camera and installation took no more than 30 minutes to enable live viewing on your phone and/or computer. I've tested Power-over-Ethernet (POE) and Power-over-Ethernet (POE) and powering the camera directly if your switch doesn't have POE both worked great. I connected the camera to an NVR (not the Amcrest brand) and it works great which is a big plus if you want to switch brands. Good to see that Amcrest is compatible with ONIVF. The only downside is that the IR light isn't the best for large outdoor areas at night. If you're trying to light up a large area at night, try to find a model with an IR range of more than 30 meters. . Amcrest has models with IR distances of 131 feet and 164 feet. Pros: price, image quality, easy setup, ONIVF, Ethernet cable purchase required. Cons: IR not the best, Amcrest watermarks on video.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • No automatic controls
