Review on RAM Mounts Drilling Solution: Enhance Humminbird Helix 7 with Double Ball Mount - RAM-202-24-202U by John Hall

I bought this bracket to mount the unit on the gunwale near the boat's steering console. I was immediately impressed by the adjustability of the mount and the build quality. My installation took a little longer than some due to the mounting leg not being fixed to a flat surface ie installing gaskets with washers took some time. I recommend attaching the unit to the bracket and bracket leg with stainless steel fasteners even if the boat is used in fresh water, in my case it is a professional perch boat. The mount is easy and quick to install or remove before or after use. I remove the mount (with a solid block) for safety when trolling or not fishing. On the water the mount keeps the block very rigid ie will not wobble or shift on an airplane or in rough water due to the rubber ball. That being said, you don't have to tighten the clamp as hard as you think it will keep it from moving. So far, the hitch hasn't shifted or slipped when driving in excess of 75 km/h or cutting through three-foot rolls. I am very satisfied and would consider buying another holder.
