We bought this because we don't have a lot of free digital channels with our cable service and we wanted to be able to switch between cable and antenna. It works great on one of our televisions and we can easily switch from cable to antenna and back. On another TV we have to rescan all the channels every time we use the switch. For this to work without having to rescan each time you use the switch, the TV itself needs to have a setting where you toggle between antenna and cable. . With a television where this works without a rescan, we go to the settings menu with the remote control and there is a tuner mode where you can switch between "cable" or "antenna". So if we need a cable, we set both the coax switch and the tuner mode to "cable". And if we need an antenna, we set both to "Antenna". On a TV where we have to rescan every time we use the switch, the TV itself doesn't have a Tuner Mode setting. If we flip the coax switch we get either snow or "no signal" until we rescan all channels.
