I bought this to store important work files as my company doesn't allow us to use unencrypted flash drives. I've tried several different encrypted hard drives and this is by far my favorite. Why do you ask? It all comes down to ease of use. Most other drives will work with drive unlocking software. My work computer is locked for installing software and many other drives require you to install decryption software on each computer to use the drive. Also, I had a previous software CD and after a while the software on my Mac became unsupported (I use both Windows and Mac) so the CD was unusable. This disc differs in that the decryption takes place directly on the drive. You set up a stylus (it's very simple - follow the clear instructions) and then every time you want to use the disc you stick the stylus in and then insert the disc. It opens like any other disc! Note that it works on both Windows and Mac (and if you format it properly, you should be able to use it on both platforms at the same time). Please note that this encryption has been approved by the Department of Defense and is very secure. Here I feel safe with my data. Yes, it's a bit pricey, but if you have important files like ID documents, bitcoin wallets, PII data, this drive is worth it.
