They are great for Shabbat and just as a night light. When our newborn arrived we needed a night light so we could change diapers in the middle of the night without waking the baby. It was great because we could use them on a weekday and then on Shabbat without having to switch between different types. Easy to use and maneuverable to control the amount of light you receive. Comes in a variety of color options if you're interested (we only went with mahogany because it was a few bucks cheaper and the color was really amazingly beautiful - it looks gaudy on the website but the color was actually pretty fancy). ). I am very happy with the purchase, I took two for different rooms.
