Line is fake stereo and quiet - also unreliable

Update: Downgraded my rating to the lowest possible. After trying to use the device on multiple computers with multiple operating systems in different scenarios, I found additional issues that are beyond the scope of my original review. Disconnecting/connecting the device itself* The device will not initialize the mic/line input when the device is powered on if there is already a signal on the line (that means don't cycle it or turn the device disconnect/connect when exiting line input). tied together). This means you have to disable *everything* completely in order for the device to register properly with the computer - this is compounded by the first issue). * 8 second delay in receiving a line input signal - very slow ADC operation (problem described below) * Line input is actually mono, which is mixed to stereo (OS reports stereo, but left/right channels are combined and then played on both channels)* Line-in volume is low. First review: I was looking for a cheap USB line-in that supports stereo input for my project. Although this device tells the operating system that it supports stereo input, I tested it with an audio source that splits the signal between the left and right channels. Both channels were recorded and played back, but reproduced on both output channels, ie the stereo input signal was combined with the mono input signal and mixed back to stereo. This device is completely unsuitable for my purposes. (Yes, I used the correct TRS cable, which I verified correctly reproduced the stereo sound we connected through another known good input device - channel mixing is a bug with this device.) The line In-volume is also low, but the sound quality overall was decent. The device makes a good quality impression. If all you want is a stereo output and/or a mono mic input, this should work just fine.
