I was expecting something cheap or factory looking. On the contrary, the box is a real work of art. It is beautifully finished and the bamboo grain is a delight to behold. If you appreciate things made from natural ingredients, you will love this. The only thing I didn't expect was that the lid is *separate* from the box itself - no hinges or flaps. You manually remove the lid from the box and then install it in the well-designed grooves to make it fit. This is the perfect angle for makeup. How nice is it to have something at home that is not made of plastic or other junk - if you like natural materials, you will love that.
