Maybe I misunderstood the purpose of this. I think it does a good job of keeping the heat off the desk or table, but it's really hard to draw on it. The pen's hot filament follows the pen instead of resting on the silicone surface. Because the silicone repels the liquid moments of the thread so well that there is no tension. I like the idea of painting on it once the piece is secured enough to "paint in the air" but then I don't know what the point is. If the bottom was fabric maybe I could use it to rotate my sculptures while assembling? The grid lines seem to make things worse because now I have microgrooves all over the surface of my build. I think I need graph paper, not fancy silicone.
