NOTHING CAN REPLACE ELECTRICITY! BUT "Mr. HEATER " HELPS KEEP YOU WARM WHILE THE POWER IS BACK!

What do you do for heating when the electricity goes out in the winter months? I thought I had the answer to this question when I bought a gravity powered oil stove and hooked it up to my large fuel tank that normally powers my stove. During our first 18 years of retirement here in the Poconos, power was rarely lost and then turned back on within hours. However, during Hurricane Sandy in October we had no power for ten or eleven days and some nights were COLD. I found that the gravity-fed oil stove heated the basement but not the top floor—it was always cold upstairs. After Sandy we had several next no food events, the last one in six days. We huddled around the kerosene stove in the dark basement all day while the comfortable chairs upstairs were unused. After one of these coolers I bought two Mister Heaters and some propane tanks. The problem with the heating on the ground floor is solved! We installed a Mr Heater in our dining room with an approximately 3 inch open window right next to it. The other block goes to the bathroom - this window is also left open a few inches. We found a propane tank lasted two to three days per heater when used on lower settings. He had the oil stove heated in the basement so that the pipes didn't freeze.
