This is a reliable waffle maker that works great. However, the sound is very loud and cannot be turned off without modification. You can either plug it in or just cut the blue and yellow wires that connect to the circuit board where the beeper is attached. Simply loosen a screw on the bottom of the waffle maker through which the sound signal goes. (looks like a small network speaker) The sound comes out of a round black plastic thing with a little hole in the middle. If you just want to turn off the sound, you can stick a piece of styrofoam or something similar to the beeper. Or, if you prefer no horn, simply cut off the yellow and blue wires that connect to the horn plate. This does not affect the displays on the waffle iron. It will still turn green when the temperature reaches the set value. (make sure you unplug the waffle maker from the wall before doing this)
