Yes. The plastic cover slides back immediately. Some people don't like it. My 3rd grade didn't care and made awesome circuits with these wires. And when people complain that they are "too difficult to open" or "slippery". 3rd CLASS PEOPLE. And they had no trouble working with it. I will buy more.
