Big disappointment. Buyer Warning!

If you're thinking about buying this car. Read on to get an idea of what to expect. If you have already done so, I sincerely hope that your experience is better than ours. We've had the car for about a year and a half now. About 4 months ago the meat grinder stopped working. It took me 40 minutes to contact someone @DeLonghi to get a repair (don't mention online where they promise a response within 2 business days and I haven't had a response in over a month!). 2-year warranty, repaired free of charge. except it took me weeks to even get the box/documents to send to them and a few weeks to get them back (the latter was fine with me to be honest). We've had it back for about a month now. and this morning it stopped working. again! Now the computer thinks the water tank is empty (it isn't, and we've inserted/reinstalled the tank several times) and wants to run the setup program (which we've already run 4-5 times). for free! I'm incredibly angry! It wasn't a cheap item. It cost $800 and I expected better quality and customer service. I'm at a loss. I was hoping for a better experience. Now I'm back to my trusty coffeepot on the stovetop. until I think of something. However, here are some comments to consider about the machine itself. What I like. It's relatively easy to set up and use. almost reliable! It heats up quickly. It's quieter than others. Many functions to easily prepare different drinks. Milk froth like a dream. The manipulation feature is really cool! It helps control clutter and keep things tidy! But. There are a few design flaws to be aware of. That's a tall car. We have it under the upper cabinets and to insert and remove it we must remove the lid of the coffee bean hopper. I absolutely dislike the fact that you can't remove the hopper once it's filled with beans. So you're "stuck" with those grains you fell asleep with. I've had block beans on other machines and you can remove the hopper and beans if you want to replace the coffee. What we do! It has a total of 6 grind settings. We set it a level above the finest grind and still didn't get the flavor intensity we're used to from other machines. I would have liked more grind settings. I hope this helps you make a more informed decision.

Pros
  • I'm looking forward to it
Cons
  • It's not as good as it says it is
