Review on 🎧 Syba SD-DAC63057 – USB 24 Bit 96 KHz DAC Digital to Analog Headphone Amplifier with 2 Stage EQ, Digital/Coaxial Output, and RCA Output by Charles Palma

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Universal tube headphone amplifier paired with JRiver Software Media Manager.

Pros: The Syba Sonic product is well built with an aluminum body and smooth volume control. The headphone jack on the front (2 sizes) is more than enough to connect my Sennheiser HD555 headphones. The input is only digital (USB). There is an analog audio line output on the back, controlled by the volume knob on the front. The rear audio output can be used to drive powered speakers. In combination with the included trial version of the JRiver Media Manager software, the audio output can be adjusted as desired with settings for spatial control, equalizer, volume, etc. Buying a software license is a worthwhile investment in my opinion. Cons: My Windows 7 Pro PC system required driver installation (including disc). After installing the driver, the default audio device needs to be changed to the new driver. Summary: This Syba Sonic headphone amp features a DAC driving a vacuum tube (12AU7) driving a solid state output amplifier. The device sounds normal to me, although I'm not that critical. The JRiver Software Media Manager in combination with this device allows many configuration options in addition to replacing the vacuum tube. The two regular sizes, front headphone outputs and rear audio output for connecting powered speakers make this a winner for me.
