The fact that it keeps track of my followers, likes, reach etc for my pages/profiles makes me feel like I am in control of them! It also has some really useful features such as sending out automated emails when someone follows or unfollows me which helps keep people up to date with what I'm doing! Having said this there are several other programs available and they're cheaper too so don't assume just because its expensive at first it cant be any good. Just have a look through their site and see if there's anything else you would find useful then go from there. Keeping tabs on who's interested in what and having those conversations organically is great for brand awareness and building trust.
