When I read the reviews about it being thin I was worried at first but when I received it I found it was so thin like my Lego board when I was a kid 20 years ago. It's not flimsy by any means, just a bit flexible, which comes in handy when trying to rip off large "sex" chunks. Today my son was building on a slab and I was able to move the rather tall structure several times (with a little care) and had no problems. We built a wooden floor, a table and a fluffy rug - it worked well every time. Yes, you are buying ONLY one slab however this is stated in the product name and description. We conveniently plate the Townhouse Kit and Puppy Starter Kit, which come in a green box.
