Overall the installation took a while, I was happy with the aesthetics but not happy with the fact that it didn't look absolutely perfect. I will mention that the adhesion is amazing and if you move a little you can peel it off and try again and the adhesion won't be lost. The installation idea was simple enough: measure, cut, peel, glue. Trimming was the hardest part for me. I have tried 2 different utility knives and 2 different scissors. I still couldn't draw a straight line. There's something in the gel that's discoloring the blade before I can make a full cut. The price was good then compared to the tiled version. Still expensive, it was about $100 just for the front of the fireplace, not the bottom. This is because the herringbone pattern contains a true square foot, which is actually less than a square foot. So buy a few more than you need. It looks great from afar, but up close I can only see my flaws. Some parts just didn't fit together properly. I could have trimmed around the chimney and plastered the areas that didn't fit properly, but that was more work than I planned/wanted. In the near future I will cover the fireplace with real tiles.
