Old Chevrolet won't start?

If your old GM won't start and doesn't feel like it "snaps back" when you turn the key, you probably need this kit along with a steering wheel/strike panel remover and various other tools. I would recommend going under the dash and removing the panel and screws to bring the steering column down. Put the key in the ignition switch and turn it. Look for a rod at the top of the column that goes down the full length and moves back and forth as you turn the key. If you can see a gear but it doesn't move, the gear is probably broken. Some great online resources to help you replace that. Complaints about this particular product? Few. First, the steering rack is not compatible with my driveshaft. It's okay, I used the old one. Despite being cheap pot metal, mine was in good shape after 42 years. Next complaint: Why don't they make them out of something better than plastic? Sure, the original hardware lasted 42 years, but I'd pay for a metal device that wouldn't break for 100 years. I used a spring and gear. I didn't use a screw or stand.
