Old Chevrolet won't start?

If your old GM won't start and doesn't feel like it "snaps back" when you turn the key, you probably need this kit along with a steering wheel/strike panel remover and various other tools. I would recommend going under the dash and removing the panel and screws to bring the steering column down. Put the key in the ignition switch and turn it. Look for a rod at the top of the column that goes down the full length and moves back and forth as you turn the key. If you can see a gear but it doesn't…

It looks like a good quality part but time will tell.

This is an exact replacement for my 1984 Chevy K10. If your key turns freely and your car won't start, this is most likely the cause. The metal part tends to break in half as it ages and wears out. It appears to be of good quality and time will tell how it holds up.

Pros
  • Rugged Construction - This kit is made with quality components to ensure reliable performance and long life.
Cons
  • Updates

A sector gear was needed to replace a defective gear on our old General Motors steered column Jeep CJ. I was just looking through the attached pictures to find a match for our pillar as Amazon's installation instructions said none of these parts would fit our car. You were wrong. It definitely worked and got us back to work. This one is perfect for the sloping pillar in the 1978 CJ.

Pros
  • Quality you can rely on, backed by a team of product experts in the USA and over a century of automotive experience
Cons
  • Almost never
