Excellent Angle Lock Set

It's no secret that I'm a fan of Yonico cutters and the Yonico 15334 Angle Set is no exception. This is a quality set that delivers sharp cuts at a good price. The Yonico 15334 Lock Miter Set consists of the following individual cutters. Shown below is what a single bit stock should be, the amount of stock it is designed to work with and the price of that particular bit when purchased individually. "_____$24.9515122____=_____1"____$26.95_____Total_____$71.8515334 = Set of 3 = $59.95 As you can see above, it's definitely a better deal than buying them individually. Pine and Baltic birch. Mahogany and white pine worked great; I was not happy with the results with the Baltic Birch as the top layer of the laminate was chipping and separating from the bottom layer. I am using a Bosch 1617EVS router installed in a Bosch RA1171. Table. I used the following RPM settings: 15129 (1/2" bit @ 1-3/8" diameter) ______ RPM: __ 21,500_ (dial 5) 15127 (3/4" bit @ 2" " diameter) ______ RPM: __18,000_(3.5 scale)15122 (1" nozzle at 2-3/4" diameter)__rpm: __10,500_(1.5 scale) I used the following tables to determine the speed of the router. 1/2"___8,000 - 12,000 RPM Bosch 1617EVS Router Owner's Manual (Pg 15) Table ___ RPM ______ Appendix1 _______ 8,000 _____ Raw Metals, 2 _______ 13,500 _____ Large Diameter Bits, 3 _______ 16 500 _____ and Milling Cutters 4 _______ 20,000 soft waste I tried using "http://www.leevalley.com/en/shopping/Instructions.aspx?p=51601" for this particular setup, when in doubt use the next size up The diameter of the 1" (15122 ) lock miter cutter in the Bosch RA1171 router table does not require a router table insert. I have yet to do this, but if you are going to be cutting a lot of these joints, creating a zero-gap- Fence came in handy to keep me from starting digging when neither side of the log was supported by a fence anymore, so I quickly built a rectangular bracket out of 1/2" Baltic birch plywood. Corner bracket and a pair of Grip clamps from Irwin Tools has d this problem solved. After determining the RPM, I enthusiastically inserted the 3/4" bit, set the bit height and stop depth per Lee Valley's instructions, donned my Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and machined my first two pieces of White Pine 3 /4 in. The cuts themselves were crisp and clean. Here the joy ended. I concluded that since I spent the next hour adjusting both the chisel height and fence depth, and so and so on you get the perfect fit. I even used the advice from the Lee Valley Lock Miter manual. Resigned to my own inability to understand this, I gave up and cleaned up. I had previously seen some manufacturers design setting blocks for their 45 degree cutters so I figured I needed one too. Please note that other people may have more experience fitting their lock attachments or may have better spatial skills than mine so your mileage may vary and you will likely set it up the first time. After reading numerous reviews about different manufacturers. tuners (some reviewers have specifically pointed out that certain blocks will not work with Yonico bits), I was on the verge of desperation to spend money on bits I would never use. That's when I came across a mention of Lock Miter Master from Infinity Cutting Tools. Intrigued by the prospect of an easy Lock Miter beat tuning tool, I downloaded and read the PDF guide; "This seems too easy," I thought to myself. Then I looked at the price. Oops! $55 for a pair of tuners seemed steep. very cool. I've spent days debating whether it's worth investing another $55 when I've already spent $60 on a set of beats. In the end, I decided that if a penny was waiting for me, a pound was waiting for me. Grimacing slightly when I clicked the Add to Cart button on the Infinity Tools website (no, it's not available on Revain), I crossed my fingers and waited for the Lock Miter Master jigs to arrive . I rushed to my garage/wood shop/brewery to try them out. I can sum it up in one word. IMPRESSIVE! Following the miter master's instructions that I downloaded from the Infinity Cutting Tools website, I inserted a 3/4" lock bit and installed it in less than 2 minutes. Basically you mark the center of the edge of the board with your favorite gauge, place the gauge on the chisel (it has a pair of rare earth magnets holding it in place), align the horizontal mark with the mark you are marking. Board to set the height of the chisel, then attach the same board to the fence and align the vertical mark to set the depth of the fence. ready! I laid railings and ceilings. BOOM! PERFECT accuracy for the first time. The mix was beautiful; I was so happy I went and showed my wife the joint. I used a small jig for 1/2" and 3/4" bits, and a large jig for 1" bits. All of the joints were amazing. I even tried cutting a few 5/8" pieces of mahogany Use; Again, excellent results regardless of wood thickness. Again, as they stand alone, the Yonico bits worked exactly as they should; nice crisp clean cuts that fit together well. Most people will be able to set up their chisel properly without the need for an Infinity Cutting Tools accessory; however, I needed more help.
