It was right out of the box. I placed it on the new frame square and read 90.0 inside and outside the frame. I needed to add filler to the top of my newly renovated kitchen cabinets, which cut the cabinets to the ceiling. Since I had a corner cabinet, I needed something to give me the exact angle between the cabinets. I then split the angle in half and this gave me fine adjustment of the miter saw. I set the protractor to that angle, tightened it, transferred the tool to the miter saw, set the blade to the exact angle, and fixed it in place. The cuts were just perfect and this tool saved me a lot of guesswork. For the price, it's worth having exactly the angle you need.
