I used the standard pencil case. It's basically a large zippered pocket in the front. I had all sorts of art supplies there in different boxes or disassembled. It was a mess that I didn't use the consumables there as it took too long to find what I wanted to use. This suitcase had all the supplies I had and with the sides it's easy to find anything I want to use. Elastic bands on each side are ideal for pencils. It's a little tight for my gel pens and some other thicker pens I have. I love the front pockets. Zippered pocket for erasers and a small ruler. Unfortunately, I couldn't accommodate thicker items like a glue stick or scissors with the design on the case. But there is room at the bottom of the case so that thicker consumables can be accommodated there. All in all it saves time. I've become more efficient at finding what I'm looking for and I've already noticed that I use consumables more often. The bag has a nice carrying handle which is a great addition. And the middle two sides are detachable, with velcro. The elastic has 12 loops on each side, 72 slots in total. Easy to hold 72 pens. Not many thicker grips. More like 9. However, there is LOTS of room for any art supplies you might want to carry around.
