Tough. Although it is made of plastic, it is solid and thick where the laptop will be installed. Also, the decision to make it X-shaped is incredibly smart because my laptop didn't move at all when I tried to rotate it earlier. There is a rotating circle at the bottom, making it easy to move. I have a feeling the grooves could be deeper to keep it from collapsing, but overall this is the best laptop stand at a good price. Lightweight: To be honest I have weak wrists so it's difficult to grab it with one hand but I can take it anywhere as it's easy to pack and there are snaps at the top to keep it from coming loose. Overall, I highly recommend this stand. And it's a small family business, so you know you're in good hands. ;)
