I bought this to connect my MacBook Pro to my router in my office about 45ft (from the cable). I bought a thunderbolt to ethernet adapter and hooked everything up. I thought everything was fine when the internet was working, but when I actually looked at my network connections, I noticed that the adapter was limited to 100Mbps. After investigating what could be wrong, it came down to either my router settings or the ethernet network itself. Other devices with shorter Cat5e cables worked fine at gigabit speeds, so I replaced this cable with another brand from Revain and it turned out that this cable has no twisted pairs. If you buy a real CAT6 or CAT5e cable and look at it in comparison, you will see the twisted pairs inside the cable of the respective cables. This cable is fine if you just want to connect one device that only needs internet. /Network connection, but speed is not a priority. Otherwise, if you really want to get a gigabit connection with an ethernet cable, you'll have to look elsewhere. I'm planning to connect the NAS to my network, so I need full gigabit speed for fast access, so this cable won't work. to me. It is also advertised quite misleadingly.
