Review on CRANKBROTHERs Pedal Stamp Small Black by Joshua Vogel

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Avoid Stamps 1. Not as "sticky " as others. Not a real flat pedal.

First, the size is wonderful. I bought the big ones and the platform fits my feet well (shoe size 10). Love it. The main reason for this (for me) is not so much the fit of the shoe, but the fact that my heels hit the struts with narrower pedals. With them you'll no doubt hit more rocks on the way up, but in my opinion an inch or two more width is worth it as you come down the mountain. . The spindle runs above the platform - level with the pegs so they don't press on the soles like other flats. The size makes up for it, and with a sticky sole you won't mind much, but other reviews may have exaggerated the extent to which they lock you in. I have two other pairs (other brands) that clearly offer more interaction with your sole. . I wouldn't characterize the benefits of these pedals in "stickiness". Next - here's a trifle, but they do not offer turnkey equipment. You will need an 8mm allen key to install and remove them. As I don't usually carry such a large hex wrench, this came as a surprise (my other pedals use smaller hex wrenches and also have room for a standard pedal wrench). I personally prefer a wrench, but that's my age. Just be prepared to have an 8mm allen key handy. Last (minor) complaint. No extra pins were included. I would like some spares in the box. I kind of thought that was standard. Silly me. At this price point I would say the deal is solid and given the possibility of a large platform I can recommend the pedals. I will contact you about the durability. I'm picky about gear and live in rocky areas so I should be a good test. UPDATE After a few more rides I downgraded my rating. The design (stamp 1) is faulty. The spindle just doesn't allow your sole to fully hook into the pins. The surface of the pedal is not flat. I dismounted both in technical uphill situations and on bumpy descents if I wasn't working with other pedals. Please note that I use shoes with stick soles (5th). Damn.
