Cheaper but you get what you pay for! 2 months and they don't look good

I bought 2 rolls of reusable bamboo paper towels 7 years ago. They are pretty dirty and I would never use them for cooking so I decided to buy new ones last October. My husband uses 2 paper towels each day to sandwich 4 slices of partially cooked turkey bacon to finish off the cooking process by toasting them in the microwave. We're committed to reducing our carbon footprint, so to speak, which is why I wanted to end the routine use of single-use paper towels. These towels are cheaper than the ones we bought 7 years ago (Te-Nu Bam-bu) partly because the competition is much bigger now, but the quality is much lower than the original towels. I'm not sure if the photos I've attached really show the difference, but the new ones are already quite thin to the point where there are spots that are completely see through! The old ones are still quite opaque, thick. Painted but still going strong! They are 7 years old and new 2 months old. It doesn't take much brain power to do this math.

Pros
  • Paper and plastic
Cons
  • No performance
