Only Used Once. I hammered one into black walnut, a fairly hard wood, and it worked fine. My only caveat is driving it into a piece of wood that is thick enough and wide enough or else it may split the wood. It would be wise to trim the wood to a smaller size AFTER driving the nut in to prevent splitting.
