Review on 🐠 Ideal Marine Aquarium Solution: Instant Ocean Sea Salt, Nitrate & Phosphate-Free by Kirt Phillips

Ok I made a rookie mistake but shame on this company for making this possible in the first place. I ordered two bags of this salt to start my first 80 gallon Oceanic aquarium. I bought this along with Live Rock and Live Sand to start my aquarium. I finally got it running this week and it showed no ammonia, no nitrites and no high nitrates and a pH of 7.8-8.0. So I did a water change to bring the nitrates down and waited 24 hours to test again to see if I had done enough water changes to bring the nitrates into a fish safe zone. I couldn't believe my results. My nitrates and nitrites are up. So I decided to test the tap water because it was gross because of the cold weather and snow and on the way from here our water pipe broke. I use RODI's buddy, but still. My water showed 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite and 0 nitrate. So it's not my faucet. I then decided to make a gallon of fresh salt water which I did not add to my tank to test. I was shocked. Ammonia is present. And the pH is only 7.8. Ammonia increased my nitrites and nitrates in my aquarium. So I ended up with this salt. I will never buy Instant Ocean again.
