I'm so glad I bought it. It is ideal for markers, pencils, gel pens. It's the perfect size to take with you and travel anywhere. 5 layers. 2 layers (1 on each side) have 9 slots. The 3 middle layers have 2 sides, so each has 18 slits (9 slits on each side). So you have a total of 72 slots and each one can hold 2 markers. If you use gel pens, probably 2 gel pens each. For colored pencils (maybe 3). The 4 slots (2 on each of the side layers) are slightly larger and I was able to put 4 marks on them. I tried to make more than two marks in other slots but it was too tight. However, I was able to supply a total of 152 regular sized double tip markers. "Tavolozza Fine Arts" is my marker brand for comparison. On one side there is an external pocket with a zip and on the other side another smaller one without a zip. if you want to add some other things. However, the outer pockets were a bit tight when fully loaded. Anyway, I didn't have to use them now. Hope that helps. If you draw or paint a lot, have lots of colored markers, pencils or gel pens and like to take them with you (or not), this is definitely for you. Mine is a bit faster too.
