Review on πŸ”₯ EasyHeat 2102 Freeze-Free Heating Cable - 100 Inches by Khaled Ribeiro

Revainrating 5 out of 5

one of my favorite brands of heating tape

I live in Alaska so I have used several different heating tapes in my nearly 40 years here. The easyheat brand is surprisingly "easy" to install. Quite a few other heating tapes are Royal PITA and require heat shrink tubing, soldering etc. They are very easy to cut to any length you require and can be done within 5 minutes. You are ready to go. Although my water line is well insulated, the 20 feet of this run from my house to the ground helped me endure -43 degrees. Pretty remarkable at only 3 watts per foot. I installed the second one on a P-trap and my hired cab and no problem here either. Worked great up to -43. Alaska verified! Thought I would add a warning to my review. This cable is not intended for contact with water and can cause a short circuit. It is best to cover this with fiberglass insulation with impregnation. Whether foil or plastic. You need a non-combustible material against the heating tape. Also, be careful if your pipes are prone to "fogging" or are in a very humid environment. In this case another type of cable is better. This cable is really designed for dry environments. That being said, I've used it in conditions where it got wet and I've never had a problem with it, but problems can arise.

Pros
  • Trial for one year
Cons
  • Requires outlet
