Read reviews on how the key breaks before you buy. This is a user error. The lock "clicks" or rather "clicks" when the key is FULLY inserted correctly. There are 3 options in this design that I really like: CLOSE, ATTACH AND UNLOCK. Of course, the two speak for themselves. The function of SNUG is to pull the cable to tighten it. When you detach the cable from the grip to fix the pad, the cable does not detach. This process is smooth and you don't have to worry about the pad jamming like most designs do. Locking and unlocking also works smoothly. I bought this as a deterrent for my roof rack during our trip. Although nothing is attached to the cable, thieves get what they want by going the extra step and cutting the cable again just to remove the rack. I would buy this item again if I needed another one.
