Now I chose the vernier scale cuz (1) there's no iffy electronics or batteries to deal with and (2) there's no dial with gears that can jump the needle cuz of any small particle slipping its way inside the rack, which does indeed happens a lot. This caliper is dead accurate on all four of its measuring functions, that being the outside measurement, inside, depth rod, and the step measurement. I did a thorough inspection with my gauge blocks and parallels. So worth every penny. Now let's face it, it takes literally 5 seconds longer to read a vernier scale then a dial, I will afford that kind of time. The digital ones are just crap. I know this from being a machinist for 36 years and using these things every working day. I was so thrilled at the quality of these calipers at that price point. .thrilled I tell ya. The case is nice too.
