I have a mixed review on this item. I bought one of these back in November 2014, and it's turned out to be the best alarm clock I've ever had. Interestingly enough, my original criteria for buying this was 3 things: 1.that it's of all-metal construction with metal internal workings 2. That it wasn't made in China ( it's made in Serbia) and 3. That it has a somewhat loud ticking sound, which unlike some people, I find relaxing and enjoyable. This wonderful Clock met all three criteria and I've been swearing by it ever since, mainly to be able to get me up for work in the morning with a very loud alarm. That being said, I just ordered a second one which arrived today. I took it out of the box , wound it up and.nothing. I wound it some more, and I felt the spring break inside. Now I'm sending it back. My thoughts are this: I highly recommend this clock, however, if you purchase one, check it immediately when it arrives to make sure you don't have the same problem I did . I don't know how this particular defective clock passed inspection, but there you are. By the same token, the one I purchased three years ago works beautifully.
