It takes a while to heat up of course, it only runs on the 15 amp circuit but eventually it reaches very high temperatures and the heavy steel/iron burner holds it well. We're temporarily living in a friend's basement and he doesn't have a stove, so we cook "roughly" between that and the convection countertop oven, but we can still cook food. We rarely use both burners, one burner plate would probably suffice as if you try to heat both burners at the same time it will bring up to temperature very slowly. Seems to get better with time, how long preheating takes, not sure why that is but thought I'd mention it. It has good visual indicators (indicators) when the burner is on and fairly good thermostat control with the knobs.
