PORMIDO PR998 SLR camera - FIRST IMPRESSION. I've been using dash cams on my cars for 12 years and have switched to newer and better products as they come out. Not that I really need it, I just LOVE this technology. Recently I was looking for a reversing camera and a small (7 inch) monitor screen. I've seen DSLRs on Revain, but they all had front cameras built into the mirror screen. That limited my options. …And then I found PORMIDO PR998. PORMIDO PR998 has met all my needs so far. This is a great system for your car, especially if you have a blocked rearview mirror (truck cap, RV, etc) and even if you don't have one. Here's what I like about the Pormido PR998 DSLR: 1. The front camera is separate from the mirror so it can be placed anywhere (not just on the windshield).2. Both cameras are equipped with SONY HD lenses (1296P) with WDR.3. The 12-inch mirrored screen has brightness controls and an on-screen menu. To access the menu, just touch the screen with your finger - the menu will appear at the bottom of the screen. From there you can: toggle the camera view from back to front or view both in a split screen; b. Take a picture from any camera - just tap the picture icon; c. start or stop recording; i.e. Lock or unlock the current recording file; e. play file; f. Enter settings (you need to stop recording first).4. I like the ability to adjust the mirror view for each camera just by swiping up or down on the screen. The camera does not need to be set up! There is no need to adjust the horizontal view either - the field of view of the rear camera is 150°, even blind spots are visible.5. reversing camera.a. If you use it as a rear view camera, it has adjustable guidelines. Simply touch the end of each line on the screen with your finger and move it to where it fits YOUR vehicle. b. If you use it as a rear camera, you can put it up or down and in the settings you can mirror the image. (This requires updated firmware); c. I tinted the rear window (5% - the sedan is black) and the camera is inside - the daytime view is really better than in the regular mirror! Not very good at night.6. The support is just amazing. I had a few questions (the product was fine, I always have specific questions about new products) and they responded within a few hours, of course given the time difference. I've only had this system for a few days but I'm already loving it. This is the system I was looking for. If you need (or want) a two-channel system with a large 12" display (instead of 2.5") that you can see, the PORMIDO PR 998 is for you. The price is also very reasonable (plus a $30 coupon). I highly recommend it. I am attaching some detailed pictures of the system components for those who need them. I know I looked for parts before I bought them but I couldn't find them.
